The main alloying elements of 6063 aluminum are magnesium and silicon, which are softer than 6061 aluminum alloy.
The hardness of 6063 aluminum alloy is 8-10WB, and that of 6061 aluminum alloy is 14-15WB. 6061 aluminum alloy is used for various industrial structures requiring certain strength, weldability and corrosion resistance. 6063 aluminum alloy is used for building profiles, irrigation pipes and extrusion materials for vehicles, benches, furniture and fences.
Aluminum 6063 is considered to have some of the best all-around extruding properties. 6063 extruded aluminum can be used for comparatively intricate sections. It is an excellent choice for hollow extrusions and architectural applications. This aluminum takes a good surface finish, is corrosion resistant and can be anodized. Its strength, as extruded, is somewhat higher than that of 3003. It can be precipitation heat-treated to strengths just under 6061 alloy. In tube form it is used for irrigation pipe, furniture, electrical conduit, and handrails.
AA 6063 is an aluminium alloy, with magnesium and silicon as the alloying elements. The standard controlling its composition is maintained by The Aluminum Association. It has generally good mechanical properties and is heat treatable and weldable.
6063 Aluminium sheet produced by heat treatment pre-stretching process has excellent processing performance, excellent welding characteristics, electroplating and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in aviation fixtures, trucks, ships and pipelines.
